DR1 v Norton

There is nothing like waking up early Sunday morning to go out into the pouring rain to play a game of soccer. The weather was terrible, hard wind driven rain. The filed was slick but playable for the kids. Numbers were down to 9 leaving only one sub which actually was a good thing since the kids kept on running and never needed to slow down for too long a period of time.
We started out with the intent to play compact defense to keep the game within reach and maybe pull off an upset. We certainly held our own with great play coming from Trevor, Michael, Kyle and Zach R.. Benjamin was playing in a stopper position most of the game with the help of Kevin, David an Evan up front. We all stayed back to prevent goals trying to release forwards when we were able to clear out of our zone.
The first half had the wind and rain hard in our face and it was surprising that players were able to see. The defenders protected Ben E. well in goal throughout the half although we were down 0-1.
With the wind to our backs in the second we were able to mount some good attacks but were missing the fire power we usually have on the pitch. Once the game was opened up it gave the opponents a chance to score. Norton has proven to be the best in the Division so far this season so I would say we played a great game in tough conditions. Final score 0-3.
